2021.10.27 01:40 Williamjpwallace Minor b11 chord?
Hey - I've always known the Jazz extensions were b9,9,#9,11,#11,b13, and 13, but can someone explain why the b11 doesn't show up on minor chords? To me, it just kinda seems the same as a #9 on a major chord - its causing a clash by introducing the opposite 3rd, so to speak. If someone could point to an example where this is actually a thing, please do. If it's not, can someone please explain why?

2021.10.27 01:40 AnOnlineHandle Remove swim mod and just increase the default movement speed in water. People who play Minecraft daily still don't understand it.
GoodTimesWithScar just died in the series Last Life and ZombieCleo almost did because they didn't understand swimming up a column of water. These are people who play Minecraft fulltime as a job for years on end, and they still don't understand swim mode, which imo highlights the problem with its design since the beginning.
Minecraft is generally fantastic to play in my opinion because it's very old school, and doesn't have any 'animation driven' movement mechanics where control is taken away from the player in some way for an animation to play, or requiring a special combination of inputs.
However swim mode is the exception here, both altering the player's view height (which is very annoying, and leads to players bobbing in and out of swim mode when trying to move around the surface of water and their height constantly changing), requiring a special combination of keys to press and hold and environmental conditions (you can't be against a wall for example, and then need to keep holding the right keys), and also comes with a much higher quality animation which is out of step with the rest of Minecraft's animation (kind of like horse models were in older versions).
IMO swim mode should be replaced with just increasing the general movement speed in water. And rather than player models going horizontal and changing the camera height (which is very annoying, and only really acceptable with elytra because it's a one time thing while you're already dropping) players should instead 'tread water' in a horizontal position, to stay within the usual Minecraft character model style, and the model should tilt slightly for movement direction in a way which doesn't change the camera height. e.g. Going forward and down would mean putting the feet out in front a bit, and the head back, while the arms paddle downwards. Going forward and up would involve leaning forward slightly in the water.
While I don't PvP, this also feels like it would work much better for that too when around water, to keep the player models a consistent 2 block height instead of flipping in and out of swim mode animation and making it unclear where they actually are.

2021.10.27 01:40 Shotayaoilover3960 My checklist
Visual - Picture an apple on a plate. What color is the apple?✅ Red What variety is the apple? (Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Macintosh...)❌ I can only think of one type of apple. Which direction is the light coming from? ✅ Is there a specular reflection - ie, a shiny spot, as if light is being accurately reflected by the skin of the apple?✅ There’s a small gleam on it. Are there imperfections in the surface? Roughness, subtle variations in the color of the apple?❌ Is there reflected illumination from the plate onto the apple?❌ Can you easily zoom in on the apple, rotate it, etc? How faithful to an actual 3-D physical object is this in your mind's eye?✅ Audio - Imagine a song, one with vocals and instruments. Pick one you're familiar with. Does it have all the instruments?✅ Are the vocals changing pitch, tone, etc?✅ Are the vocals actual words, or just sort of gibberish fitting the role? (Try singing along to whatever is going through your head out loud if you're not sure)✅ How sharp are the drums? Unsure about this one. Can you change the tempo?✅ Can you make the singer sound like they huffed helium?✅ Can you swap out instruments? Swap out lyrics wholesale?✅ Can you change the key or mode of the song?✅ Touch/Proprioception - Imagine your hand and an object, any object, in front of you. Can you mentally reach out and touch it?✅ Does the object feel like it should? Hard/soft, hot/cold, smooth/rough, etc...✅ Smoothness and roughness I can do very well, but for heat and cold I can only imagine them when they’re extreme. Could you feel your own imagined hand and arm? Were you aware of the physical movements in the same way that you know where your physical arm/hand/fingers are without looking? ✅ How heavy is the object you imagined? The right weight? ✅ Can you change that weight?✅ Close your eyes (mentally or physically, whatever works) and concentrate on that imagined hand. Start with the thumb. Tap it to your palm. Do the same with your index finger, then your middle, ring, little finger. Any problems? No Can you keep going? In other words, can you continue to 'tap fingers' with fingers you don't have - imagine that you had extra fingers - despite not having a real-life analogue to compare to?✅ Can you go a step further, and imagine the feel of wholly alien things (bird wings, say) that will require entirely fictitious input?✅ Smell - Imagine a flower, preferably one with a strong smell Can you smell it at all?❌ Does it smell strong enough, or just a faint whiff?❌ Is the smell accurate - a rose smelling like a rose?❌ Can you make it smell like something else - fresh cookies, say?❌ Multiple smells at once? Rose, cookies, old stinky socks?❌ Taste - Seems to be pretty rare, but... imagine a few foods. Can you taste them?❌ If you imagine something salty - like a pickle or potato chips - and add imaginary salt to it, does it taste saltier?❌ Can you distinctly tell apart the taste of distinct items, like, say, two flavors of chips, or two kinds of candy bar, or two different wines?❌ Kind of the acid test: if you imagine a few foods and what they would taste like together, can you go in your kitchen, get those foods, eat them together, and have them taste the same? That is, are your imagined tastes demonstrably the same as the real thing to a degree that it would be useful cooking?❌

2021.10.27 01:40 Onebar1 5 Fingerstyle Guitar Tabs for Beginner to Intermediate Guitarists
The first 3 paragraphs are for beginners, so if you want the songs and tabs you should skip them.
Guitar has been a passion of mine for a while, around 3 years now. Guitar for me is incredibly relaxing (unless I'm practicing something and I keep messing it up). Aside from that, I use guitar as a way to wind down and just play some music. That could mean anything from messing around trying to make a nice melody to playing something that someone's already written. In this article I will list some songs that can be played through the use of fingerpicking. These range from simple tunes to some slightly more complicated stuff, but hopefully nothing here will be incredibly complex. Keep working at it and you'll get the hang of it. I believe in you!
So, for people who are beginners to fingerstyle guitar, I'll explain a bit, although I'm not exactly a fantastic teacher. When playing fingerstyle, you'll usually want to have your ring finger on the string closest to the ground. Then your middle finger on the next highest string, then your pointer finger on the next. Your thumb will play the top 3 strings. Strings are listed from bottom to top as E A D G B E. Oh yeah, and some basic guitar terminology if you're completely new to the instrument: The Neck is the long bit that extends away from the main body of the guitar. Frets look like little boxes along the neck of the guitar. Different notes are produced when pressing down on a fret with your finger. For those who don't like reading, I've included an article about the parts of an acoustic guitar. This one comes with a diagram: https://www.soundpure.com/a/expert-advice/guitars/parts-of-an-acoustic-guita
I will be linking tabs for each song. An important thing to mention, in tabs (and sheet music!), the strings are listed 'upside-down'. This means that the bottom string on a tab or in sheet music will be the string that is closest to you. Tabs indicate where you should place your fingers on the neck (that long bit that comes away from the main part of the guitar). For example, a 3 on the low e string would mean you should place your finger on the 3rd fret of that string. A 0 just means that you don't put your finger on the string at all, just leave it open. When encountering multiple notes at once in a tab, either pluck them all or strum them is applicable. That probably was a little confusing, so I'll link a video here: https://www.guitarlessons.com/guitar-lessons/guitar-theory-ear-training-and-reading/how-to-read-guitar-tabs
For anyone who is just starting out with guitar, I would suggest looking up some beginner youtube videos like this or this Here's a link to a GIANT chord chart: https://truefire.com/guitar-chord-charts. I guarantee you won't need to memorize all of these.
Now, some actual songs that you can play!
Song 1 - House of the Rising Sun - Traditional
Sometimes it’s called the Rising Sun Blues, sometimes it’s the House of The Rising Sun. It first appeared in 1925, although the tune may have originated back in England or France. Either way, I won’t bore you with silly things like history. Most people are going to be more familiar with the cover by the Animals in 1964 which was a hit in both the UK and the United States. While the song can be picked, I find fingerpicking the chords to be easier and more fun. There’s honestly not too much I can really say about the song, other than that it’s a classic, and a fantastic song to learn or at least try to learn if you have a guitar and some free time.
Song 2 - Swing Low, Sweet Chariot - Traditional
The earliest known version of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot originated in what is now Choctaw County, Oklahoma. It was written sometime after 1865 by Wallis Willis, a Choctaw freedman. Because it was originally written around 1865, there are a ton of different versions and adaptations out there. The one that I’ll have linked is a pretty simple rendition. As with most fingerpicked songs, the main part of the playing is through the use of fingerpicked chords. The chord progression for this song is pretty easy to follow, as it repeats the same chords for each verse. You can either strum or arpeggiate these chords. (arpeggiation is the process of playing a chord as a series of ascending or descending notes.) Play the bass note of the chord first, followed by the top 3 strings in ascending order from lowest to highest (pitch not position). (the bass note is the lowest note of the chord.)
Song 3 - The Rains of Castamere - Ramin Djawadi/George R. R. Martin
Try playing this one at a wedding. It'll be fun, I promise! Jokes aside, this is one of those songs that I heard and immediately thought: "I want to learn this on guitar." Thankfully, despite being originally composed for an orchestra, people had made a tab for a rendition of the song on guitar. There are a variety of arrangements that you can find for it online. Some are done with a pick and some are done through use of fingerpicking. All iterations are perfect for playing while your allies get stabbed in the back.
Song 4 - Metro 2033 Main Theme - Alexey Omelchuk
Alexey Omelchuk is the only person to appear on this list twice. That’s just because he wrote some fantastic guitar pieces. They really convey the depressing but somewhat hopeful spirit of the Metro games. The main theme from Metro 2033 was another song that I learned pretty soon after I began learning guitar. The song is only about a minute long, and it is very simple, repeating twice with some minor variation. This one should not be too hard to play. It was one of the first things I learned on guitar.
Song 5 - Metro Exodus - Admiral's Theme - Alexey Omelchuk
While technically not the official name of the track, this is what I call the 2-minute long guitar piece. Plus, if you look it up under this name, you’ll find no shortage of audio from the game and covers of the song. Coming from the game Metro Exodus, this is one of the bits from the soundtrack that stuck with me. There were a few tracks like that, but this is the one that I liked most. Unfortunately, it’s not available on Spotify, even though the entirety of the game’s soundtrack is there. It’s annoying. I hate it. The song is fairly short, I said 2 minutes at the start of this paragraph, but really it could be brought down to 1 minute 30 seconds depending on how quickly you want to play it.
I hope you liked this! Please leave any feedback in the comments.
